Cumberwell Park • WEB • Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire
This family-run golf club boasts the only 45-hole course in Wiltshire. Located 15 minutes from Bath city centre, Cumberwell Park, which covers 400 acres including 34 acres of woodland and nine lakes, is suitable for golfers of all abilities. The venue, which has the character and charm of a converted barn, has space for conferences or meetings of up to 150 people, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of parking space. The venue can also cater for all types of event – from awards dinners to office parties.
Ashton Gate Stadium • WEB • Ashton Rd, Bristol
Home to Bristol City Football Club and Bristol Rugby, this stadium, which is the largest conference venue in the south west, underwent a £45m revamp in 2016. It boasts state-of-the-art facilities including 5,000 metres of exhibition space, 35 meeting rooms – the venue can cater for events of up to 1,200 people – and the largest indoor screen in Europe (it’s located in the Sports Bar and Grill). There are also 12 intimate-style boardrooms with spectacular views of the pitch.
Bristol Pavilion • WEB • Brightside Ground, Bristol
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club was founded by the Grace family in the 1870s and the club has been based at Brightside Ground since 1889. Today, the smart glass-fronted building, which overlooks the immaculate cricket green, is a great venue for large corporate events. The venue has three suites (the largest room accommodates 300 people), six hospitality boxes and a sports bar with magnificent views across the pitch. The venue also has an on-site catering team and a mouth-watering variety of locally produced dishes for any occasion.
Wincanton Racecourse • WEB • Wincanton, Somerset
Wincanton Racecourse is part of The Jockey Club, which owns 15 racecourses in the UK and is the largest commercial group in British horse racing. Located in the Somerset countryside, the racecourse can be hired for sit-down dinners, team-building days, outdoor parties, conferences and meetings. With three spacious rooms, a heated marquee with suspended wooden floor (it’s ideal for awards dinners and corporate parties), and 12 break-out rooms for five to 12 people, this is definitely a venue to hedge your bets on.
Lady’s Wood • WEB • Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire
Founded in 1981, Lady’s Wood is one of the UK’s leading outdoor shooting grounds. Set in 55 acres of woodland, the luxurious Cotswold stone lodge has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Meetings and events take place in The Gallery – a private room with a roaring fire, which seats up to 24 people (there are comfy armchairs for a more informal gathering), free Wi-Fi, projectors and screens. The venue has a number of catering options and, as well as shooting, it is possible to combine events with activities such as archery and falconry.
Kingsholm Conference Centre • WEB
• Kingsholm Stadium, Gloucester
This stadium, which hosted four games in the 2015 Rugby World Cup, held its first international rugby match in 1900 – but then did not host another for 91 years. Today, it’s a popular spot with rugby enthusiasts but also has an award-winning conference centre, which has space for 350 delegates (275 for a seated dinner, or 60 for a boardroom-style lunch). The centre has 16 meeting rooms with space for between two and 24 people, free Wi-Fi and on-site parking for 150 cars.
Bristol Lido • WEB • Clifton, Bristol
Bristol’s famous Lido is one of the oldest-surviving outdoor pools in the UK. Open all year round, the Lido, which dates back to 1849, re-opened its doors in 2008 after lying in disrepair for two decades. The Lido is a contemporary venue with an award-winning restaurant, which has capacity for 100 people for dinner or 150 for a drinks reception. The venue also has a private tea room overlooking the pool (it can accommodate up to 24 people), and a pool-side terrace for up to 50 standing.
Memorial Stadium • WEB • Filton Ave, Bristol
Home to the Bristol Rovers, this football stadium is dedicated to the memory of soldiers killed during the First World War. The venue, which is less than two miles from the M32, has 16 executive boxes for corporate occasions and networking events, some of which have magnificent views of the pitch. There are seven meeting rooms including the Memorial Room, which seats 160 people and has a bar and large plasma-screen television, and the Executive Lounge, which seats up to 40 for dinner. There is also free Wi-Fi on site and 350 parking spaces.
